Carlos “El Hiperactivo” Rubio has been teaching salsa since 1999 and has been called “The Salsa King of Ohio” since. He is Ohio’s all-time winning-est salsa dancer, winning and placing in many salsa competitions. In 2002, he helped start Ohio State’s first salsa organization, “Club Tropical”. The group specializes in salsa styles like Casino Rueda, L.A. style, and New York style. Teaching full-time at the Salsamante Dance Academy, he is available for private lessons, and his group class schedule is available online in the Calendar tab!
Michael-Paul Newman has been teaching dance for 10 years. Many of his students have won National titles in Pro-Am Competition, something that only a small handful of teachers ever achieve in their teaching career. Todd Smith, aka “SalsaByTodd”, aka “Todd the Salsa Guy”. He’s been teaching salsa, bachata, and merengue since about 2008. As one of Carlos Rubio’s more accomplished students, Todd has quickly become a crowd favorite on dance floors around Ohio, bringing his own smooth style, leading techniques, and pure passion for teaching.As an instructor, Todd is known for his ability to break down each move, so that even “rhythmically challenged” students can get up to speed quickly! Todd’s “patented” motto is “Learn to Dance, Get Fit, Be Social, Have Fun!” Todd is currently teaching his “SalsaByTodd” Group Classes and is available for Private Lessons by appointment as well.
